Doing proper research on them and stuff for part of my art essay and it just brings it all back and into perspective. Everything about them is so damn heartfelt and touching :( The funny thing is, you wouldn’t really understand that at all just by listening to their music.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, the Oasis break-up was sad but I think everyone saw that coming to some extent. With a band that had been around that long and with two big personalities like that too, it was bound to come to blows eventually.
But with The Libertines everything was so fast, dramatic, romantic </3 Carl and Pete had such a beautiful partnership. It was perfect. Looking back right at the start with the guerilla gigs they used to do in their flat in 2002, their sudden breakup in 2004 and then to their the reunion gig at Reading/Leeds Festival in 2010.
There will never ever be another band like The Libertines. Forever a Libertine. The Albion still sails on course.
